Welcome to my website
Twenty-five years ago I started diving, and from the very beginning I wanted to dive the Empress of Ireland. In 1990, I made the first of my thirty-five dives on the Empress and, since then, I have been doing research on this great steamship, and collecting anything related to her.
On my website you can examine my collection of Empress artifacts, books, photos and documents. While people always want to know about my artifacts from the ship, I would like to stress one very important point, something that is often overlooked. Artifacts are important but, without documentation to support them, they are just objects, and can never reach their full potential as teaching objects. Artifacts backed with appropriate documents are key to understanding our history, and essential if future generations are to place the Empress in the context of her times.
May 29, 2014 will be the 100th anniversary of the sinking of the Empress of Ireland and this web site is dedicated to the memory of those who lost their lives. Most importantly, it is about the legacy of a steamship to which a million Canadians across the country can trace their roots.
